      FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

      On behalf of the 103 members of the Olympic Mountain Lodge #23, Fraternal Order of Police, I would like to announce the following:

      We endorse Kelley McIntosh for the position of Mason County Commissioner District 1

      We endorse Kevin Shutty for the position of Mason County Commissioner District 2

      After careful consideration we feel that these candidates both have the best interests of the community at heart, and will be strong partners in the efforts of our members to make Mason County a safer place to live, work, and visit.

      Olympic Mountain Lodge 23 is part of the Washington State Fraternal Order of Police. Located in Shelton, Washington, our membership is comprised of Law Enforcement professionals from Mason, and Grays Harbor Counties.  We are the voice of the Law Enforcement community in our local area.

      Our motto and Mission is "Stronger Together".  Lodge #23 provides support and relief to officers and their families through access to labor services, legal representation, insurance benefits and political involvement. The Lodge also provides support services and relief efforts for law enforcement families in times of crisis.

      The Fraternal Order of Police supports fraternalism among law enforcement professionals, and is the leading advocate for over 325,000 police professionals across the nation. The Fraternal Order of Police provides resources for contract negotiations, legal defense, along with a powerful voice in Washington D.C., working on legislative issues to better the lives and working conditions of those in the law enforcement profession, as well as addressing legislation that affects the law enforcement community. Lodge 23 is the voice for these issues in our community

      The Lodge contated all of the County Commissioner candidates from the 3 counties and asked for a statement of thier platfrom to provide to the membership. The attached documents are the responses we have received as of 4 August.  Candidate Kelley McIntosh and Randy Neatherlin are running against each other. Ms. McIntosh has actively asked for our endorsement.

      At the 31 August meeting, nominations for Executive Board postitions closed. President Severance cast one vote for all uncontested races, electing several board postions and closing the nominations on 2 contested races.

      • “One Voice” for Law Enforcement in Mason, Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties.
      • Improvement of working conditions for all LE officers in the region
      • Advancement of productive labor relations efforts.
      • Development of community support for Law Enforcement issues
      • Elections of Government Officials who support Law Enforcement
      • Support of positive programs for the enhancement of public safety.
      • Provide support for officers and families.

      We are seeking interested FOP family members to start our Lodge Auxiliary. The Auxiliary serves as a family support group and takes part in planning and executing Lodge events. for more information contact Trevor Severance president@wafop23.org
